RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide leadership to nursing staff in advancing evidence-based clinical and advances nursing practice, including conducting problem-based needs analyses and supporting strategies for sustainable change.
· Guide and support the development of advanced nursing practice within programs and across the patient care continuum, working collaboratively with Program Managers, Clinical Practice Leaders, and the broader professional practice team.
· Support nursing staff in developing strong clinical decision-making, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills through case consultation, clinical demonstrations, case reviews, and bedside coaching.
· Serve as a clinical resources and consultant by providing both formal and informal guidance to nursing and allied health professionals, supporting appropriate strategies to achieve patient-focused, high-quality outcomes.
· Lead the development, implementation, and revision of evidence-based clinical standards and core nursing competencies, ensuring alignment with best practice guidelines and organizational quality and safety objectives.
· Act as a professional role model, demonstrating excellence in clinical practice, the nursing process, mentorship, and the organizational philosophy of patient-centered care.
· Direct and develop nursing education and professional development programs across programs and specialty areas to support competency development, onboarding, and ongoing clinical growth.
· Oversee the competency development of newly graduated nurses, internationally educated nurses, and those transitioning to new clinical areas, including individualized learning plans, assessments, and ongoing coaching aligned with the Clinical Scholar Program.
· Conduct comprehensive educational and practice needs assessments to identify staff learning requirements, legislated obligations, and specialty-specific competency needs.
· Establish and evaluate clinical outcomes of education and competency programs, using data, audits, and evaluation tools to inform improvement and measure impact.
· Collaborate effectively with Program Managers, leadership teams, interprofessional partners, patient, and families to promote a consistent standard of high-quality care.
· Participate in organizational committees, initiatives, and working groups to support the advancement of professional practice, patient safety, and quality improvement.
· Fulfill other duties as assigned, consistent with organizational priorities and evolving needs of professional practice and patient care.
EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
· Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the college of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
· Minimum of 5 years of recent, relevant clinical experience – required
· Mental Health experience – preferred
· Minimum of 3 years of patient, family, and staff teaching experience - preferred
· CPR certification – required
· Excellent clinical skills and clinical competencies
· Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
· Previous experience teaching, working with clinical learners, and/or precepting
· Demonstrated leadership abilities, with the capacity to mentor, motivate, and support others
· Strong change management skills, with the ability to lead teams through evolving practice needs
· Exceptional problem-solving skills, supported by sound clinical judgment and decision-making
