Position Summary:
Reporting to the Program Manager, The RPN is responsible for the provision of safe, effective and ethical nursing care. In collaboration, the registered practical nurse is responsible for ongoing assessment and monitoring of the patient’s health status, identification of patient/family needs and the development of plans to meet those needs. The R.P.N. is also responsible for their personal education and professional development. All employees are required to comply with all safety procedures and safe working techniques and to report any unsafe conditions that come to their attention to their supervisor. The R.P.N. complies with the Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment. The Registered Practical Nurse will work in the Mental Health Urgent Care Centre
Qualifications:
One year of previous mental health nursing experience preferred
Knowledge and understanding of mental health care and the Mental Health Act
Availability for all shifts – required
Ability to participate in education and quality assurance project
Good interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities
Proficiency in French language is considered an asset
Education and/or Certification:
Graduate of an approved Registered Practical Nurse Program with medication administration
Current certificate of Registration issued through the College of Nurses of Ontario – required
Current BCLS; required
Intravenous Access and Care Certified preferred
