Position Summary:

The Dietitian is responsible for provision of direct patient services, including consultation, assessment and education as well as ensuring clinical nutrition services are meeting the needs of the Bariatric Clinic clients. They are responsible for participation in departmental, hospital and educational activities, which are supportive of professional and corporate objectives. The Dietitian will participate in the development of content for the members of the home department of Bariatric Clinic.   They adhere to professional obligations as required by the College of Dietitians of Ontario. This position will also help with coverage in Cardiac Wellness, GAP, GMHOT, and Outreach departments. The Dietitian is responsible for delivery of care consistent with the vision and values of the hospital and the standards of relevant professional organizations. The incumbent must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment. 



Qualifications:

Experience in clinical nutrition would be an asset

Ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Effective time management skills

Commitment to standards of excellence and accountability

Compliance with the Professional Standards for Dietitians in Canada and Clinical Practice Guidelines to ensure delivery of high quality care to patients

Ability to utilize best practice guidelines for nutrition assessment and nutrition diagnosis

Utilization of excellent patient-centered skills to provide and facilitate an effective dietetic service

Proficiency in French language is considered an asset

Valid Ontario Driver’s License with the use of a car and insurance



Education and/or Certification:

Bachelors Degree in Food and Nutrition - Required

Completion of a Dietitians of Canada (DC) approved dietetic internship, or approved DC equivalent - Required

Member of the College of Dietitians of Ontario - Required

Membership in the Dietitians of Canada - Preferred
